Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) Information
(Beijing, China)
The city's primary international gateway is the Beijing Capital International Airport, China's busiest and the world's second-busiest air facility. With close to 80 million passengers travelling through its terminals every year, Beijing's airport is virtually a city in itself.
A new terminal was added for the 2008 Summer Olympics, bringing the total number of terminals here to three. The new Terminal 3, designed with lots of windows and arching steel and glass, is the world's second-largest terminal by space (and the world's fifth-largest building). Inside all three of the airport's terminals, passengers will find a bewildering array of amenities and services, and plenty of space to move around.
Air China is the main carrier based here, taking up nearly all of the space in Terminal 2 and providing flights to more than 130 domestic and 40 international destinations. Most other global airlines are also represented at Beijing's airport, ensuring plenty of travel options to every corner of the planet.
